I know the rules about direct solicitation on these newsgroups, but I
hope no one's offended by me letting this group know that Sybex has
posted a PDF of the first chapter of the upcoming Security+ Study
Guide for free download on its web site (www.sybex.com). Just in case
anyone wants to get a headstart on their studies. Will be posting the
second chapter before the New Year. The book itself will be out in
February.

I show three different Security+ books (including the Sybex one)
coming out in January. Just be warned that as first editions they are
likely to be a bit rough.

For a list of them, take a look at:

True enough Delbert, but unfortunately there isn't much else out there to
study from. I have Mike Meyers new Security+ book on order already, but
would like one other to compliment my studies - I also have the study notes
that Tcat Howser & Helen O'Boyle published over at alphageekproductions and
a friend sent me The 60 Minute Network Security Guide (NSA) and the NIST
Introduction to Security Handbook to add to my reading material.

Ooops,

The site link in my previous post is incorrect. I shouldn't have
tried to hand-construct a sig on a Friday night.

The site from which our Security+ PDF (free beta, and non-free final)
ebooks are available today is:

The Hacking Exposed series would be an EXCELLENT read. They have
varoius editions for Linux and NT, but their general book has a LOT of good
info. Microsoft has literally tons of free info. --- Steve
