Hi,

Can we install ADSL with a modem AND a router on the same connection. I only
have one userneame/password.

If we can, which cables must we have and how we must connecting them ?

If we cannot and we take a second username/password, can we realize this
and which cable and connection with which cables.

I am on numeric phone line and I could have 2 lines on 3 that can be busy.

I have gave the main phone number for my ADSL. If I ask an another ADSL
username/password on an another of my 3 number, can we connecting for that
works ?

Tnx,
Thierry Philippet

Well, The DSL modem would plug into the router and your username/password
would be configured on the router.

Usually modem goes into the WAN port, and the computers go into the other
ones (except for the uplink, if there is one)

???? Do you mean get another modem and use another line for a second DSL
connection?

I think username/password config is transparent on what line your using, as
long as the DSL filters are installed...(but I'm not a pro with DSL)

Hi,

Tnx for your answer.

I have equally a analogical phone line. Do you think that we have a conflict
if I connect a Analogic ADSL modem ?

Hmmmm... Dude! I think you are way outta the picture here.

Sounds to me as if you are trying to use multiple connections to the
internet... right? In other words, so that your internet connection
can be much faster since you will have MULTI-lines connected... well,
it dont work like that.

Yes, u can install ADSL and a modem in the same machine but one or the
other will be your ONLY choice and only use for the internet... and
very abviously ADSL would be the best choice.

The rest of the stuff you typed in is pretty much incomprehensible and
very difficult to understand.

uhmm, he has attempted to post this question in a couple threads,
hoping someone could understand his question.

The history is, he has a DSL connection, through a dsl router which
feeds his home network. His brother in law, while attached to the
home network, cannot host some network games. This is obviously
becuause this machine is proxied to the internet, and does not have an
internet IP address.

What he is asking is, can his brother inlaw setup his own dsl account,
and use the second dsl modem on the same phone line. I suggested that
"only 1 dsl modem per phone line" is most likely. I also suggested
that his telco may possibly allow them to rent a second IP address,
allowing them 2 internet presences through the same modem.

If you have a better suggestion fo this scenario, then perhaps you
could enlighten us all. Other than that, I thought his question was
quite clear.

Experimenting has proven that you can not run two ADSL modems (for better
word) on one line. With a line filter you can have an ADSL connection and a
dial up modem both working, but definitely not two ADSL.
