Who here knows why they cover issues like Mac(apple) and a few other OS's in
the Net+. I mean i am more of a Microsoft minded person. I been going
through Net+ on Sybex and also with Keystone, both of which i can send
through email or arrange a way for anyone to study with if you like. I just
feel that there should be certs for apple computers to get to know the
language besides Unix which is the reason behind apple. I did not pass the
NET+. i mean i knew the answers but they seem similar in many ways like
questions thrown at you can confuse you like " the order of this or that
questions".

You see i am not familar with Unix or other OS and i know that it is not
fair in my part. I would be certified granted, but i would prefer more input
on all OS topics and i feel that they should do it more specific. You can be
NET+ in other way in my opinion like if for example you get the MCSE. It
covers networking for Microsoft in general. It is easier since it sticks
with what we normally use daily. Microsoft is the leading software sold and
then MacOS.

Lets talk and be civil and we can share any positive ideas. I do not want
to give up. and dammit....this ritalin does not work anyhow..........hahaaha

Comptia Exams are vendor neutral, thats why you need to be well rounded.
Net+ is not solely based on Microsoft. You should become familiar with other
OS to expand your knowledge base. Maybe you were right in your other thread
that your in the wrong field.

Because it is a vendor neutral certification.

Then I'm sure Microsoft will happily sell you one of their
certifications.

It was supposed to be an answer to your bizzarely worded question.

Weren't you complaining just a few moments ago that the Network+ *IS*
general and not sufficiently Windows-centric for your liking? Weren't
you saying that you believe the non-Microsoft items should be removed
from the Network+ and put into separate certifications? My point is
that you have a choice, if you want something Windows specific, go and
get something from Microsoft, if you want something that encompasses a
variety of different OSes as you'd most likely deal with in the real
world, then try the Network+.

The reason they cover things like Linux, Mac and Novell in general is
because there many systems out in the world that run them. Looking on job
sites or in the paper most positions advertised ask for experience with
Citrix, Netware, Unix/Linux or Cisco as well as MS - in fact one position
advertised recently was for a completely non MS network.

that is very good, i understand, my question also would be if what you say
about job wise that would be a good way to ensure that we can and possibly
tackle the other OS requirements in due time by beginning with the
network+. like A+ and all, i do agree that introductory certifications that
generalize, do help decide what route we may want to go.

Why do you think I'm attacking you? I'm just pointing out that if
people are confused by what you write, it might be because your writing
lacks clarity, you might have perfectly good reasons like English not
being your native language or it might be something less valid, either
way, it's difficult for anyone to give you a decent answer until we
understand exactly what you are trying to say.

Like I mentioned, I don't find your posts particularly easy to
understand so I'm trying to find exactly what you are saying, I thought
I'd understood your original post and a few others seem to have read it
in the same way but you seem to think we've misunderstood. I'm not sure
that ignoring the questions and taking this so personally is helping us
come any closer to getting the answers.

your still attacking me i made myself perfectly clear. not about grammar,
this is not english class, this is about humans talking about computers. i
do not worry so much about punctuality. just be normal and relax and offer
constructive comments and be aware as well that not everyone thinks like
you. don't speak for other and use them to include your comments against
petty things. and if i am petty or you want to use another form or tactic to
waste time to attack or use some form of judgemental ways then go right
ahead.

Paul and everyone else. Hugo is just begging for attention. Paul is
completely level headed in this response and Hugo chooses to make it into an
attack on him. I say that until he gets a thicker skin about this, he be
left alone. Since he seems to want to make an argument instead of have a

The test, I believe, is over general network knowledge. This involves Macs,
NT, Unix.......all platforms and Operating systems that one might encounter
while working in the field. It is best to be ready for whatever may come
your way.

Hey Hugo... sounds to me like you are very depressed cuz of your
unfortunate mishap of not passing your N+. But you still sound like
you are still "gun-ho" about it and dont plan to quit... thats good on
your part. I know it isnt easy knowing that 200 bux were blown cuz I
know that money dont come easy but what that should tell you is that
you should have been better prepared for it and I also think that you
will pass it next time around if u dont wait too long.

As for OS's... trust me when I tell you that becoming an MCSE you dont
only need to learn about MS OS's... but also NFS, MVS, Netware and
Linux, Mac's... and whatever else is out there that communicates in
the real world. The only one that MS dont cover as much is Banyan
Vines... but it does too come into the BIG picture as it happens to be
another NOS that's out there and in the real world and that as a
full-fledged MCSE, you will need to be prepared to work with all these
technologies.

So trust me when I tell you that becoming a MCSE isnt as easy as
people think. But it does take a lot of perseverance and dedication if
you really wanna meet your goals.

Just food for thought!
