| I know this has been asked countless times before but I was wondering if my
final goal was an MCSE, what is the best route to take ??
I know they don't offer the cert in NT anymore but they do offer it for
win2k. But I hear there are also other tracks you can take to get your MCSE.
Is .NET going to be as big as they boast and if it is is it worth it to get
the cert in MCSE ???
As you can plainly tell I want to make myself more marketable but don't want
to go the way of the NT certs. Get your cert and then have Microsoft
threaten to remove it because it is not considered and obsolete OS though
still widely in use.
Thanks
Pat

| Get your MCSA cert which will count towards your MCSE and since you are A+
and Net+ you can use those as electives towards your MCSA.

| the Win2K and ,NET MCSE tracks are one and the same. you can pick and choose between the tests from both tracks... the MCSA is a good intermdeiate goal to fix for yourself at this stage on your way to the full MCSE. | |

Here's a great web site that details a path to MCSE.

| Hey Pat
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...equirements.asp
Remember that your A+ and Net+ will count towards 1 exam on the MCSA track,
but do NOT count towards MCSE.
If you are looking for another feather in your cap I would consider Linux+
to be a good one. The best way to make a decision is to evaluate the
Situations Vacant ads in your area and see what sort of knowledge/experience
is being asked for. In my area it is Linux & Citrix on top of NT4 and W2K.

| That is true Jim, but a quick look at the google stats page
www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html will reveal some very interesting stats
about OS involved in using their search ...
Win98 43%
Win 2K 20%
Win XP 17%
Win NT 7%
Win95 4%
Mac 4%
Linux 1%
Other 4%
Unlike most I realise that a lot of Linux users are very savy and use good
firewalls, proxies etc, but I think the figures aren't too far off the mark.
Linux is something not to be ignored, but considering that by 2 Jan 02 the
income to M/S from OS was greater than all versions of Linux that will be
sold all this year speaks volumes.
