Author Which Book for Network+?

Hi,

Hi, I'm thinking of taking the Network+ exam. Can anyone recommend a good
book to learn/revise from?

At the moment I'm thinking of either:

All-in-one Network+ Certification (Second Edition): Mike Meyers, Osborne

or

Network+ Study Guide (Third Edition): David Groth, Sybex

Does anyone know which is best?

Thanks,

Bruce.

Both good and it depends on how comfortable you are with the material
already. If possible use both; personally I like the Sybex book better.

I am currently using the Michael Meyers book and I think he does a great job
explaining the material.I heard that the David Groth book is good also but
have never read one yet.

I always recommend Muke Meyers' books over any other for A+ and Net+. I obviously also recommend Network+ for Freaks!

Well, I'll tell you what I did. I read and studied the Meyers and was going to
take the exam but then thought, what the hell, let's make my fear work for me.
So I got the Groth and I'm going through that. What's amazing is that Groth
reaches another level of complexity. I mean there's a lot of information in
here that Meyer's doesn't delve into. My suspician is that Groth is covering
things that just won't be on the test. That's okay. I'll be overprepared (I
hope) and that much closer to my next cert.

BTW, I see a lot of great advice in these posts as it relates to books, but let's state the obvious one more time: don't forget to get as much hands-on experience as you can!

I just found out that the Network+ exam was revised on January 31,
2002 and the new exam ID is N10-002 not N10-001.

All in one is good for learning about real life situations as well. So stick
with it. BUT also add to your resources Network+ form the same authour.
Great for revision and learning the keys to pass the exam.

Cheers.

The Sybex Network+ Study Guide (3rd Edition) book/cd. Covers all of
the necessary requirements to pass CompTiA's revised 2002 exam
objectives. The book also includes a CD-ROM which contains a number of
practice tests, and as many have pointed out, a lot of the questions
on the actual exam could be found on the tests in the book / cd.

The CD apart from practice exams, contains flash cards for the Palm
devices and a pdf copy of the whole book itself.
