| I have a+ and network+ now and still no job offers. Left a very
stressful/unrewarding job at a call center a few months ago. Do you
guys think there are any more certs that comptia offers that would
improve my marketability (eg. linux+, i-net+) or is it just a matter
of waiting now for the market itself to improve.
Thanks for your comments.

| It's a matter of just keeping on looking.
If you are going to get any more certifications, at this point, the
place to go is with Microsoft certifications. You can get MCP with one
exam, MCSA with 3 exams, and MCSE with 7.
However, the MS exams are FAR more difficult than the CompTIA exams.

Just wondering...with the same preparation, is this really true?

I just spend 9 months doing outsourced technical support for microsoft
windows xp, so I'm pretty sure that covers me as far as microsoft
goes.
Thanks anyway,

An article in today's Washington Post says the IT job market may have finally
bottomed out, and should start to improve, albeit slowly.
I hope the article is right.

That's what I thought 3 or 4 months ago, but you can never give up
hope.. what's the link?

| Although certs look good on a resume, it does NOT compare to real
hands-on experience as I personally prefer to hire someone with five
years experience rather than someone who has the cert but hardly or
close to no hands-on experience what-so-ever.
The job you held might have been stressful, sure, like what job isnt?
But not unrewarding as it would count as hands-on experience and on
the job training, per se.
Well, as this wasnt the case for me... Yes, if you aready have your A+
and your N+, then the best way to go would be the MS way... MCP, MOUS,
MCT, MCSA, MCSE, CCDBA... whatever u want after that or even CNA and
then CNE... but the point is to always be progressing and striving to
make yourself more valuable to the open market.
Indeed, Linux+, i-net+ and Server+ would be like nifty extra bonuses
to your collection of certs... which is always good too.
Good luck in your endeavors!

| Dont be so gullible and believe everything you read... Let's just take
it one day at a time and follow the stock market closely as this is
the source that can really tell us if we gonna live or survive.

Thanks for the tip, I think I'll get my server+ and MCP XP then go job
hunting.
I spent 9 months at the call center that was long enough, they
promised me hands on experience in the interview but they never set up
a lab as promised. I was actually losing touch with the real
technology.
I'm not afraid of stress but I'll never work for another call center
because of the lack of respect and dignity.
