First suggestion, if it is on a true LPT2, then reboot into true DOS
mode, (or boot with DOS or win 95/98 disk). Then type the following:
DIR > LPT2
This should do a directory to the printer even if it does not have
drivers, it is simple text.
If you cannot get anything out of that, now you troubleshoot. If the
printer will self test (go to the HP site to figure how to do that),
then it is either in the goesinto, the goesouta, or the goesacrossa.
goesinto - the parallel port on the printer is bad,
goesouta - the parallel port on the puter is bad,
goesacrossa - the cable is bad
If it does work with the dir command, then you have to look at the OS.
The drivers may be messed up. Go to HP site, download them, and
install. Let us know what happens.

Do a test print at the print device. This will isolate the problem
between the computer and the hardware. If the printer will not test print
then you will know the problem is there.

| I will assume that you havent done this, but have you tried a known good
printer cable. I have seen many times that printers do not print due to a
bad printer cable.
Also, will the printer print a self test page, to do this, you usually have
to press the button down and hold it, but HPs website will give you the
specifics. If it prints a test page, more than likely it is the cable or
some configuration on the computer.
Is the light on it green, and is there any other lights that gives an
indication.
Hope this helps.

have you tried reversing the connections... whatever LTP2 now make it
LPT1... thus the HP6L and configure... if it prints there... on LPT1
but wont print on LPT2... i guess you know what to do from there on.
And while you are it, reconfigure whatever you have right now on LPT1
to try and make it work on LPT2 as well... this way you can make
double sure of whats causing your conflict.
But I would start off by trying to do a SELF TEST which is by holding
down a combo of keys when powering up the printer.
Good LUCK!
