You can do VPN with 2500's. You can't configure any type of Inter-VLAN
routing with them.

How many 2600 routers do you need to do this?? (Inter-VLAN routing)
I'm new to this....sorry about the question.

| Just the One 2600 or equivelant.
Connect the fastethernet port to a switch port in trunk mode and use dotq or
isl vlan encapsulation (dependent on switch capability) on sub-interfaces of
this port.
The router can then pass packets from one VLAN to the other over the same
physical interface back into the switch.
Ensure that the switch ports connected to the hosts are in the correct vlan
and you are using dedicated network or subnet addresses for the hosts/router
subinterface for each VLAN.

Toby

| sorry, not sure what are u saying,, as i mentioned, i'm new...
so, can i conclude that, buying 2500 is still a good move, but i will need
to add at least one 2600 to do the inter-vlan routing ???
thanks for helping, as i mentioned, i'm totally new, and need to make sure
my investment will not be waster...

| To ensure your investment is not wasted just start off small and build the
lab up. I recomend a couple of 2501 routers to start with.
When you have built up some knowledge, then decide what you wish to continue
with.

| thanks for advice...
will start looking for some used 25xx routers.. the reason why i ask this is
b'coz someone told me, if u buy 25xx u can do most of the labs, but some of
the feature is not available in 25xx.... and i estimated that i will need
around 2 years to complete my studies... so just to make sure the routers is
still usable during that period..
and hopefully, cisco do not changed the test objective..

One thing they will do is update the code in the lab to 12.3 in the lab
eventually. I know Enterprise+ on a 2500 only goes up to 12.2, the current
IOS in the lab.
