Top Secret Clearance ??

| Is any one out there working a job that requires a top secret
clearance? I was told by a temp agency that I and a buddy of mine have
a interim T/S clearance. We filed the paperwork and we are given an
interim clearance while the paper work is being processed. Once the
paperwork processing is complete will we get a document that we can
hold in our hands or is the information kept on a government log some
place??

I've never heard of interim clearance. But I never got a piece of paper
saying I had XYZ clearance. Of course it could have been in my 201 file
(military personnel record) w/o my knowledge but I doubt it. I guess
for civilians, it may be different.

| Are you getting a "Top Secret" or "Secret" clearance?
Unless things have changed dramatically, there was no such thing as an
interim "Top Secret" Clearance. There were times that an interim
Secret clearance could be issued depending on the work, citizenship,
and endorsements by the employer.
BTW: I was never given a document that stated my security level. It
was maintained in the company's and the goverment's records.

Interim Secrets and Top Secrets are common. On some projects interims
are sufficient, while others require a final clearance.
To my knowledge, you don't get any type of document when the clearance
is complete -- it's just kept in a database somewhere.

My clearance was issued as an interim, pending NAC... and when it was
finally approved I was given a form that told me my clearance...
However, this was in the military, I haven't the slightest clue how the
civilian world would work...

Haven't looked since my clearance was in the military. Just be careful
since SCI times out fast. And I guess some SCI are more attractive so
do your best to keep it fresh.
But it is a good ace in the hole.

It is not diff rent
It will be kept in your record with the security officer.
As for your military your clearance was kept in your field record if
you had one, but if you had one with in the last 24 months it should be
a simple process of re activating it. And if you had one in the
military you did in fact have a interim clearance before your final was
approved after all there is a few interviews and research they had to
do.

Now that I think about it, I guess that makes sense. It's not like they
did ALL the paperwork the day I got commissioned.

| My self and a buddy don't have any cisco certs. I have a MCSE and am
working on my CCNA. We are are being equipped with Top Secret
Clearances with the expectation of working on the Navy Marine Corp
network upgrade here in Jacksonville. We here in Jacksonville FL have
been lead and dragged along for 3 or 4 years now with the expectation
of getting a good paying position on the NMC project. There are only a
few people working on the grossly over budget behind schedule project
in Jacksonville at $12 -13.00 hour. All are employed though Temp
agencies. I don't understand what the government project is doing and.
When I ask my temp rep any questions regarding the TSC she always has
to ask her security person and returns with an incomplete answer to
the question.
Thank you for all your answers to the questions.

All clearances time out. SCI is (as I recall) Special Comparmentalized
Information. Basically, next level up from TS. But there are different
levels of SCIs.
