| strange DHCP problem with pix 501.....
I can't get my New Out of Box 501 to pick up DHCP on external interface
when plugged into my RCA DOCSIS cable modem. The link shows "UP" but
there is new IP address. If I put a DHCP router such as a linksys
between the 501 and the cable modem, the 501 will pick up the DHCP
address from the linksys.
1 - The Cable Modem supplies downstream IP via DHCP
2 - The Linksys is getting IP on the external interface through DHCP
3 - The 501 is getting the IP on the external interface through DHCP
4 - The 501 has been configured using Defaults from Wizard (PAT)
5 - The 501 can communicate in network and to the outside world when it
is hooked up to the Linksys - which is obviously not useful.
RCN-CableModem ->501 (outside int up:0.0.0.0)
RCN-CableModem ->Linksys ->501 (outside int 192.168.1.11
What am I doing wring or what IS wrong?
