Author X.25 question

I'm busy with BCRAN right now, and i just don't get the next lines:

(config-if)encapsulation x25
(config-if)x25 ips 1024
(config-if)x25 ops 1024

I get the part that it is the maxium-frame size, but what happens if i send
a small amount of data (like 500bytes) over the x25 PDN. Wil i be sending
this in frames of 1024bytes?? Cause what i understand of this x25 is that
you pay for the data send.

So if i want to send 500bytes, but in real life i whould send 1024bytes to
the PDN, it will cost me more?

Or, is it possible to get two 500bytes frames in one 1024bytes frame??

I'm to confused right now, can't figure out how i need to figure this one
out.

Thnx for some help

Greetings,
Liam

X25 is an interesting protocol, but if you're studying for BCRAN
you are probably wasting your time on x25.

Regardless.....some comments below.....

FYI, ips and ops defines the packet size. add layer two overhead to
determine the frame size, called N1.
If you have 500 bytes to send, that's what you send. the packets are not
"padded out."
Most SVC billing was by "kilobyte," but not every installation was a metered
service.

If you want to send 500 bytes, then that's what you send. Your contract with
the service
provider determines what you are going to pay - there was usually a
'minimum'
and then metered service once exceeding that minimum.

No concatenation is allowed. One packet per frame.

I don't beleive there is any more X25 on the exam.
It is a certainty that there is no more X25 in the courseware.
Looks like you're using old material.

X.25 was in the previous version of BCRAN, but is not necessary in the new
tests. You are wasting your time studying it, I believe you won't get a
question on it.
