CCNA, Cat 5000 or 2950

| Since a Catalyst 5000 switch is cheaper than a 2950, can it be substituted?
As far as I understand they both run IOS, and a 5000 can be used later for
CCNP stuff.
Any thoughts?

| The C5000 is CatOS only. Although the 2950 might be better than nothing for
CCNP prep the CCNP track actually focuses on 3550 multilayer switching.
Unfortunately the 3550 is around $2K.
