CCIE, no requirements
|
|
|
| Hi folks,
Just wondering: How come no requirements are necessary to join the written
CCIE exam???
If you see the career path it's on top of the CCNP certification.
So basically you can be a CCIE very quickly!!!!
(OK, experience might be handy)
please your comment.
Cheers,
Anno

Because the CCIE written is meaningless without passing the LAB. And if
you've passed the LAB, you have a number behind your name. :-)

The Cisco Press books I've read explain this is a purely "SYMBOLIC"
and "TRADITIONAL" gesture. CCIE has traditionally had no
pre-requisites. However, it's highly recommended you persue easier
lines of Cisco certification before taking on the big dog.

CCIE predates all Cisco certification. So it's kind of hard to make
something a pre-requisite if it never existed.

Damn, you mean I wasted all that time on my CCNP when I could have just gone
straight to my CCIE!!?!

| I have actually had schools tell me that your ccie would be invalid without
getting your ccna and then your ccnp. This it totally untrue. As for
becoming a CCIE very quickly let me tell you I have friends with 20 years
hard experience in very large infrastructures who can't pass the CCIE. It
is in a class all by itself which is why there are no requirements plus
there was a time when the CCIE was all there was. The one requirement is
that you have 18 months from the time you take your CCIE written to take and
pass the lab.
Cisco just makes it nice and pretty for someone just starting out by showing
a nice pyramid with ccna, ccnp, ccie.
You'll need access to a large amount of equipment to practice till your
fingers come off with various labs and such. You can always by a CCIE lab
on ebay for about 8 to 10 grand and then resell it back to ebay. Alot of
people do that its about the cost of going to a bootcamp.
FYI Ive been studying between a myriad of books and logging a ton of
equipment time on top of the infrastructure I run for about 6 months and im
still not ready.
