How to troubleshoot VPN problem?

| Kind of off topic, but I bet someone will have an idea. We recently
installed, microsofts built RRAS (VPN) on an office, and connects fine
through DSL, well the office changed DSL providers ( to obtain a static IP )
and NOW the PPTP will NOT passthrough!
Of course Verizon says it is not on their side, but how do I check this? The
logs almost always give a different 6 hundred or 7 hundred number error.
Can I monitor through some sort of network sniffer, and can I do this on the
remote side as well as on the internal?
Thanks in advance.

| Check which ports(UDP/TCP) are necessary to have open to complete the transaction. Then run a port scan to
verify if they are.

PS: you might have to disable any FWs' temporarily to test.
