| I before with general questions regarding setting up VLAN's with our 2950's.
But what I need help with now is just setting an IP address for the switch.
How do I set the IP address of the switch and then login through a web
browser? Thanks!

connect via console cable with a terminal emulator. 9600,8,n,1
configure ip address and password.

| I know how to connect via console but what exactly are the commands? I am
new to the Cisco world!

Switch>enable
Password: xxxxx
Switch#config t
Switch(config)#interface vlan1
Switch(config-if)#ip address 10.1.2.3 255.255.0.0

| But why muz we get into VLAN 1 when we r setting the ip addy for the switch? |
