Hi all,

I have a 2621 that I bought for taking my CCNA. According to Cisco as of
IOS 12.1(2) there is the "ip address dhcp" command to allow the router to
connect to a cable modem.

I can not get this command to display using the following method:

conf t
int f0/0
ip address dhcp

Typing "ip address ?" reveals only 1 option to enter an IP manually.

The only thing I can think of is that it may not be available with the
current IOS I have:
IOS 12.1(21) IP/FW/IDS/IPSEC-3DES

Should I switch to IP PLUS/IPSEC 3DES? I absolutely need VPN capability to
access my home network, so I hope to god its not the IPSEC feature set!

thanks

M

It's not available until 12.1.2T. Check the command reference. If you have
a 2621 you should be running at least 12.2 code anyway.

Thanks for this n00b. I got it to work fine on 12.1(2T) but I can't upgrade
to 12.2 due to memory restrictions (only 40/16 available and 48/16 required
for IPSEC).

I can only assume, however that 12.2 is more relevant to the cirriculum so I
will have to run the standard IP feature pack for this test.
