| interresting question... i think it's solely depends on individual and how
much time they spend in average...
for example, i saw lots of people complete their MCSE in few months.. but it
takes me almost a year to finished...
i do have a friend who manage to finished his CCIE from scratch (he only
knows AS400 before that, and no idea on any ethernet network).... and he
spend around 2 years to complete ...
i do have a friend who got experience in various operatins system (MCSE,
CNE), and he spend only 2 months to got his CCNA and CCNP... and aiming to
complete his CCIE in 1 year..
all these are just my friends experience, as i'm not cisco certified (and
i'm hoping to do it)... i already spend around 1 months and hoping to do my
CCNA in december.. but i spend only around 2 hours a week..

I spent about 4 months but had a solid networking background when I
started. I had plenty of experience with switching and have been
troubleshooting networks for a long, long time so those parts were easy
for me and took little effort. Routing was weaker so I studied it. Remote
access was, I confess, more of a memorization thing to get by the test
since I never worked with it before. I am now in a position where I work
with it occasionally so I feel better about that now. It really depends a
lot on what you know going in, how hard you work at it and how quickly you
can pick things up. No two people are the same. If it takes you a year,
you learn and you pass then who cares how long it took? Congratulations!

| How long it takes and how long it should take are two different
things.
I could have probably done it in a few months with all the classes,
and if I were single.
I ended up taking 2 of the 4 classes, self studied the rest, and I
have a wife with 2 kids. Because of all that, it took me 2 years.
So how much time do you have?

| took me a year. keep in mind that it isn't a race against time.
take your time, do all of the labs, create your own labs. "play" on network
gear. experience goes farther than a few books
