Configuring OSPR on 1604 router

| I am trying to configure OSPF on Cisco 1604 but whenever I'm in config mode
I type "router OSPF 1" I get message says unknown routing protocol. Here is
my sho ver. Appreciate any help.

| I've had a similar problem with EIGRP and cisco 800 series.
Unfortunately, cisco 800 series doesn't support EIGRP and i think that
even 1600 can't operate with OSPF (at least with an IOS old as yours).
Try to update it (before buying a new IOS, check on www.cisco.com for
compatibilities between C1600 series and OSPF)

| My 1600 is running 12.0(3)T but gives the same error with OSPF. Will do
EIGRP though.

I don't know if this makes a difference but I always use non capitals so
try: router ospf 1

| I think you need a IP Plus feature set (C1600-SY-L).

| yes you need a newer ios version do run BGP/OSPF, I beleive the other
gentlemen was right in mentioning it,
my 1605 is running it fine, (although not configured, here is the sh ver
with this information.)
