Author CCNP question

Quick question for you all, I have my CCNA Version 2.0 (640-507) which I
gained in 2000. I have to recertify by the end of September 2003 and was
planning to take the BCMSN exam. I would like to take the 640-504 exam as I
already have the study material, but I know that it retires shortly. If I
do take the 640-504 can I mix this exam with the new track and do I have to
start the new CCNP track from fresh?

Thanks in advance,

Kev

BCMSN 640-504 will not recertify you as CCNA. Hence, you will lose your CCNA
and will not be able to continue your CCNP until you get your CCNA again.
Therefore you should take 642-811, instead. Any 642-xxx exam will recertify
you as CCNA.

Ciscopress will be releasing their new BCMSN Exam Certification Guide on
September 18, 2003. So, you can start studying with your current book and
preorder the new Certification Guide right now. You will probably get it
about a week before the end of the month, so that you can read up on the new
stuff.

Here's the link to the book:

Thanks Grey,

Guess I will have to order the new book and give it my best shot. Any study
guides you recommend other than the Cisco title.

Thanks again,

Kev

This is the only one that's coming out before the end of September. You can
also order a switch SIM from Cisco Press. The current book you have should
be good to start with.
