My I.T job search situation
|
|
| Andy Hirst 2003-08-28, 6:26 am |
| At this present time following an unsuccessful 15 months of IT job seeking following my redundancy at
a previous I.T company I have managed to obtain some employment as a Supermarket Assistant at
Sainsburys, the advantage of this temporary fix is that as I am no longer dealing with the UK job Centers
I can now spend time concentrating my I.T studies on One particular area of I.T which I have decided to be
I.T Networking including Cisco administration type work. And also now have the funds to purchase some 2nd hand
Cisco equipment to include in my home IT network with a view to renew my CCNA, certification and then go on to
study the CCNP & possibly the CCIE.
I am interested in hearing from as many of you networking people as possible about any of my comments above and
my plans to concentrate on getting skilled in this area of I.T, especially on the following points:-
1. Are there any good websites that recommend the type of Cisco equipment to get for the CCNP studies.
2. What is the current jobs market like in the area of administering/networking IT cisco equipment.
3.Leading from point 2 will me getting hands on experience with Cisco equipment + studying for the CCNP certification
improve my chances of obtaining a position in this field even if it's junior.
Please visit my web site at http://www.hirstar.plus.com where you can download a copy of my current c.v., which I would like
feedback from yourselves over including any improvements I could make on the c.v or if possible any praise.
Many thanks.
Andy Hirst.

You're on the right track. Get out of IT while the getting is good.
