| The other day, when I was at a bookstore, I looked at the Todd Lammle's book
on BSCI, read the chapter on IS-IS, and found it offensively oversimplified.
What I concluded from reading that chapter was that either I'm way overdoing
it in my studies for the test and Todd Lammle's book is right on the target,
or that it's impossible to pass the test, using just his book because so
much information isn't covered. Especially I was incensed by the font size
and the amount of white space on each page. It looks like he had no
information to fill the pages, so he did what some students do -- increase
the size of the margins and the font size. The book looks thick, but it
covers probably less than half of what Cisco BSCI course book covers.
Could someone who's taken the BSCI test comment on this?
Thanks,
Grey

| Grey, Todd Lammle's books are allways like that. However, they are usually
enough for taking the tests. These books are there only for these tests! Do
not expect too much. I got BSCI old version with Todd's book. It was enough.
One month later I got the new version only studying Cisco's ISIS book.
(therefore I do not know the new version of the book you mention) Cisco's
books are allways contain much more detail than the tests.
If you only want to pass the test, go for the Tood's books because its
simpler and you can finish it faster. (Although I urge you to find a Cisco
course student guide. They're allways much targeted) However if you want to
learn something to be useful in your lifetime addition to passing the tests
go for the Cisco books.
hope this helps,
Utku.

I took the CCNP recert test, and I used the lammle book to prepare for the
BSCI (642-901) section. It was adequate. I passed.

| The Cisco BSCI book is superior.
