Passed CCNA, wondering about taking Network+
|
|
| Sebek 2003-08-01, 10:25 am |
| Has anybody taken Network+ recently?
I have passed CCNA today (scoring 949 points) and I would like to know if
I'm
able to pass the Network+ exam with the same knowledge. Are these two exams
similar ? I don't have any discount for this exam and its cost is rather
high for me (I'm a poor Polish student), so if there are a big difference
between CCNA and Network+ I wouldn't take it.
I appreciate your opinion.
Sebastian.

As I understand it Network+ is a lower level than CCNA. I would think
that employers would but more weight on the CCNA than Network+.

No way, don't go down. Now that you have the CCNA go up to the CCNP or
into some other area like MCSE or somewhere else. Definitely don't go to
the network + = "mickey mouse" CCNA much more respected!

Hi!
I'll do my CCNA certification next Thursday and I've read a lot about
Network +.
The comments are that if you pass CCNA, you can pass Network +
certification with your eyes closed.
I'm thinking about doing it myself, after CCNA. I've done some exams
(on the net) and Network + is kindergarten.
By the way, what did you think about your CCNA certification exam?
I think it will be ok, no big deal...
After I'll do it, I'll let you know my marks.
Love,
Andrea Oliveira

I was rather surprised with my CCNA exam, I supposed it to be more
difficult. I'm sure your will be the same.
Good luck

Hi
I scored 949 points, I used Cisco book (CCNA Exam 640-607 Certification
Guide) by Wendell Odom, some boson tests and I also finished Cisco
Networking Academy few months ago. I didn't use any router simulators and I
dont't have access to any Cisco equipment ( only during my Networkin Acedemy
classes).

| Congratulations on your CCNA !!
Network+ should be a walk in the park.
The used book market is saturated with Network+ books.
Michael Meyers 2nd edition is good, as well as the CompTia one, by
Drew Bird. Get a couple, read them, and you should be fine.
Just make sure you know well the Microsoft/Windows part of it and the
rest, well, you know it already.
should be no sweat.
Are you considered going further, like ... CCNP ?
Security is also a good field right now. Think about it !
One more thing, if possilbe, get on ebay and if you can buy at least
one router. Two or three even better if you got the $$$.
Hands on experience is essential to retain your knowledge. Unless you
"do the stuff" every day, in about 6 months of no work on routers some
of your skills could "fade away..." So, if you can, get the routers,
right now, the 25xx are really cheap , and they are great to keep in
shape...
Once more, congrats on your CCNA, great score !

| Hi!
Just did my CCNA today and graded 961! Not bad for a girl, right?
I went to academy, which graded A in all semesters a few weeks ago.
I read ICND and used CISCO IOS In a Nutshell, which advise both. The
first one to full study, the second, to reseach, sepecialy IOS
Commands.
I saw testking 640-607 Ed19 and I have to tell you that It didn't come
out so helpfull..
Some questions were like hell! Some never heard about it, like how to
tive a Ip address secondary!
Anyway, I'm thinking about CCNP and MCSE now!
See you around,
Andrea

Hi
Good job. I believed in you. There was something about secondary addresses
in Cisco book, but it was rather connected with ipx addressing. This
question made me think too during my exam.
Good luck with CCNP and MCSE

| I took Net+ recently, it is VERY easy for a CCNA. if you are not very
familiar with the utilities in windows for network support, read a little
about that, ej. pong, tracert, netstat, nbstat, etc.
But if you have budget restrains, forget about Net+, you are already way
over it.
