Author Does CCNP Certification Recertify CCNA?

Hello,

I have passed the CCNA and CCNP exams on the following dates:

Apr. 24, 2003 642-831 CIT
Jun. 07, 2002 640-505 CCNP - Remote Access
Feb. 15, 2002 640-504 Switching
May. 17, 2001 640-503 Routing
Apr. 27, 2000 640-407 CCNA

My CCNA was scheduled to expire on Apr 27th 2003, I took the CIT Beta
exam on April 24th 2003 (The last exam to complete my CCNP
certification). I check the cisco certmanager website on 19th July
that I passed the beta exam.

Now the website shows that my CCNA exam has expired on 27th Arp 2003,
and currently I hold no certification, even though I passed all the
ccnp exams, which in my opinion should recertify the related CCNA exam
also.

Now my question is that do I have to take the CCNA exam again or I
have to wait for a certain period of time, so that they will update my
status?

Thanks in advance.

yes it does, if you're CCNP, you can ignore the CCNA dates.. just worry
about the CCNP recerts if you're time is up.

If I read this correctly you should have recertified your CCNA twice;
one by passing a 642 series exam and once by completing your CCNP
before your CCNA expired.

The certmanager web site should show that you are CCNA and CCNP
certified.

So on which address should I email, to correct the problem? Anyone
knows it?

I searched the certmanager site, but couldn't find any email address
where I can send these kind of queries?

I dont understand what do you mean by recertified your CCNA twice, but
I didn't take any recertification exams, I only took the CCNA exam,
then CCNP four papers and thats it, but the time span was 3 years from
the day I got my CCNA cleared, but I managed to complete the CCNP
certification requirement 3 days before my CCNA was going to expire.

You recertified your CCNA by passing your CCNP within the 3 year time period.

You also recertified your CCNA by passing a 642 series exam:

Cisco Adjusts Recertification Policy for CCNA, CCDA Exams

To recognize those candidates who demonstrate additional skills beyond their current certification status, Cisco will adjust
its recertification policy at the Associate level (CCNA, CCDA) certifications. If a recertification candidate passes any new
exam at the professional or Cisco Qualified Specialist level, the candidate will be considered recertified at the CCNA or
CCDA level.

Only those exams with numbers bearing the 642 prefix, e.g. ARCH 642-871, may be applied to the CCNA or CCDA level
recertification. Once passed, the exam and the resulting recertification will be valid for three years from the date of
passing. The current option of recertifying at the CCNA or CCDA level by passing the original certification exam remains
available to candidates as well.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Just to precise that, after three years from the day of certification at the
associate level, unique way to recertify: pass the original certification
exam.
For dll2002dll, I think there is a mistake in the certmanager web site.
certsupport could help you. Go to: www.cisco.com/go/certsupport .
