I had to take the CCNA twice. Then passed each of the CCNP exams on the
first try then went for my Network+ and ended taking it twice. I think it
just depends. Sometimes you just need to take the exam, pass or fail, just
to see where you are in the study process. One of the more difficult exams
for me was the CWA (certified wireless administrator) by Todd Lammle's
Wireless Technoology Group. I'm studying for the CCDA right now and I have
to say it has me wondering of I'll pass on the first try. Most of these
tests (especially Cisco's) are difficult to pass. It's almost like they
don't want you to get the cert.

Cheers!

I'm a CCNA, CCDP and CCDA.

I'll say this about the Design track. I think I learned the most from
it.

It was well designed, well implemented and well tested. Three things
you absolutley need in great certifications and great networks as
well.

NA was not hard at all, I studied for a few weeks with no real Cisco
experience and I passed in the 90%. NP wasn't that hard, by that time
my routing experience was greatly improved and my switching was top
notch. I pass both of those without buying a book. Remote Access and
CIT were a bit rougher as my experience is mostly with higher end
routers like 7500s and 12000s, thus no "remote access" really. Mostly
SONET, SRP/DPT and ethernet. Only a few Serial interfaces and no ISDN,
no Frame Relay and no ATM. So I had to wing those via the books and
CCO.

On to CCDA, it was a bit harder on me. It was all "Cisco's answer"
kind of things. Not a bad thing, just a thing I had to learn. I don't
think "Cisco's answer" is really the wrong answer either so it was
valuable. One thing I got from it at the time was a better
understanding of routing design. Very critical to WAN implementations.
That is also why I think it's the most valuable of my Certifications
at the moment...

Getting ready for the IE written...wednesday morning...wish me luck.

Best of luck! Hope things go well for you. Let us know how you fair.

Cheers!
