I'm looking for some study materials to learn and pass the CCNA test with.
I looked at the Sybex one and the box set from Cisco. I am wondering, can I
learn what I need to know using only the Sybex book with Virtual Sim? The
same question for the Cisco box set though this set doesn't come with a sim.
You have to purchase it separately. The Cisco books seem a little
overwhelming to read for a newbie and I wonder what is the difference
between reading 3 books in the set and 1 Sybex book. Are those sims worth
it?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Sim is worth it. You can get it from ebay for $20. Chapters up here in
Toronto wants $149 CDN for it.

I'm studying myself. Going to a school though. One thing the sim won't teach
you is subnetting. This is something you'll have to read and understand
fully.
