cannot access 1900 series console port

| Hi there.
Quick question that someone might have the answer to.
Using a proven good rollover cable / db9 connector, I am unable to access
the console port on a Cisco 1900 (WS-C1924-A) switch.
Any ideas as to what the problem might be. I can communicate normally
between machines attached to switch ports.
Sincerely,
