Sybase CCNA 2.0 Study Guide (640-507) question...

| Hi,
Ive got hold of an old copy of the Sybase CCNA 2.0 Study Guide, from a
friend at work, and have been reading through the first few chapters
with a view to eventually taking the CCNA test.
Should this book be OK as a basis for study with regards to the
current CCNA exam, or should I be better purchasing a later edition
(if available)?
If their have been changes made to the curriculum, are they
substantial?
Thanks, again.

You could probably get by with it. You might not get as high a score as you
would with the newer version, which obviously is tailored more closely to
the currently available exam.
You know, I've mentioned this before, but a friend of mine d'l'ed that book
via Neonapster. I bought mine for $90 like a fool (The deluxe edition with
the router sim), since I was unemployed at the time and didn't have daily
access to a true Cisco router CLI. The sim has serious limitations (compared
to a real IOS CLI) but it will give you a good general idea of how they
behave.
I have the good fortune to have worked with the routers (some) at Nortel and
Sprint in my last two positions, so that was a big help. I could usually
tell when the sim wasn't behaving as it should. Others won't have that
luxury.
Good luck whatever you decide.
