a good 2900 switch

| i know there are diffrent series of 2900 switches but what are the
diffrences like xl and regular 2900

There are 'set-based' Catalyst 2900's (2901, 2926F/G/T) that use the
Crescendo (CatOS) command syntax like the Catalyst 5000, 5500 and 6000
switches. The others are 'XL' based switches 2900 (and 3500 series).
There are a number of differences between XL and CatOS based switches
in how they are configured, what type of trunking protocls they support,
and other features such as broadcast control, layer 3 switching
capabilities, single or multiple instance spanning tree, etc.
If you have specific requirements in mind, there are plenty of folks
lurking here who can assist you in selecting an appropriate switch.
