| I just passed the CCNP recert exam (640-851), and was wondering if I will be
getting new credentials from Cisco..

| Without breaking NDA, can you elaborate as to whether or not you even
studied and if you thought it was fair. Is time, # questions, and
pass mark public knowledge?
Have to take myself before June while currently studying CCIE. Yes,
unfortunate timing for sure. Thought I'd just go in and wing it to
see if I can get by with a pass without re-studying all those books.
Please advise.

I'm no Jonathan, but he recently attempted the CCIE lab. So that's the
level of studying he's been putting in. I would have been SHOCKED if he
did not pass the NP recert.

| Hi Brad,
If you are getting towards CCIE written level, you will find the CCNP recert
a piece of cake. I would wing it if I were you - the written that you are
preparing for is MUCH more difficult
You might also want to know that even if you pass the CCIE written it will
not renew your CCNP. Only holding the full CCIE will do this. Furthermore,
the full CCIE will only renew the CCNP and not the CCDP - you still need to
do the CID exam to hold on to your CCDP. In these crazed times, I still
want to keep my CCNP and CCDP active even though I am a CCIE.
best of luck,
Steve

| A buddy just (barely) passed the re-cert - ton of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, fair ISIS, ISDN, Frame, simple simulations.
He bought the latest CCNP for Dummies book (all 4 "regular" exams covered in one book), read it once and winged the recert. He took almost the full two hours, and passing was 723.

| Funny you mention CID only to recert the CCDP. Online CCO shows a
dedicated recert exam, 640-529 "CCDP Recertification Exam (CCDPR
640-529)".
Please elaborate or clarify?

| Brad,
He meant if you certify as a CCIE, it renews the CCNP cert, but not the CCDP cert. To keep the CCDP as well as the CCIE, you'd need to pass the CID to refresh the CCDP.
You are correct that there is a CCDP recert exam as well as the CCNP recert exam.

It was a joke of an exam...
Passing score was a 732, and without studying, I got an 850...

| Looking for further clarification. Passed the CCNP recert exam. Your
response below is confusing. I opened a case with Cisco cert online
support and they advise to take the 640-529 CCDP recert exam, NOT the
CID 640-025. Anyone else have a similar situation or advise? Would
sure like to take CID rather than that 120 question recert exam.
