I've heard a lot of people say how important the threaded case study
is in the CNAP but how many marks does it actually generate towards
the final mark? Is it possible to pass the CNAP without doing a case
study?

It counts for not a lot really. I have just completed my course and our TCS
was a bit poxy.
As far as marks go it counts for the same as an end of chapter, roughly.
