Hi!
I have a question about osi-model, that I don`t understand:
With how mnay other layers does a layer in the osi model generally
communicate????

The correct answer is three. (My opinion is two)
Can anybody say me why???

maybe for n-th layer : (n <>1 ,7)
1) with n-1
2) with n+1
3) with n-th in a peer system ?

cheers

it communicates only with the layer above or below it.

How do you know the correct answer is three?

I see why the answer is 3 :

2 * adjacent layer interaction, upper and lower in the same computer
1 * same layer intercation with the remote computer equivalent layer

I hope this clarify "cisco" answer

It can communicate with in the same layer and then one above and one below,
which makes three.

Yes, there's peer-layer communication with the same layer on another device
(a physical-layer device for layer 1, the next-hop device for layers 2-3, or
the destination device for layers 4-7), and there's adjacent-layer
communications with the layers below and above on the same device.
