Promotion code for extension of 640 CCNP exam

I recently passed 640-607 and got my CCNA. Today I received promotion as
said in title. I is valid untill March 31, 2004. Now, if I go and take the
exam, will I be able to take other exams from 640 series to get CCNP? If I
pass 640-901 and other exams from 642 series, can I get CCNP as well as I
would get it if I was taking all 642 exams? What's the benefit of taking
640 exam then 642 exam? Is 640 easier? Is the price the same if I take it
with promotion code?
