| OK, I've done my CCNP (20 years in the industry fighting shy of paper
that simply fills Cisco's coffers, but here I am, times are hard in
the UK, and you've got to be prepared to jump through hoops!) It tok 8
weeks start to finish with CiscoPress and 20 years experience.
OK now I need to prove I can jump through the security hoop. Answers
on a postcard, do I go with Cisco or Checkpoint Certification, what
has worked for you guys (and gals)? What will get a lowly contractor
the biggest bucks?
Cheers

IMHO, CCIE Security...

| Hi,
IMHO, CISSP in more generalized, and more useful, I've found, for
employers. Just having a vendor cert
doesn't get you the job. But it will get you an interview...a CISSP has
more requirements that you have some
experience (i.e. 3 or 4 years actually performing one of the 10 areas of
security that is tested).
It doesn't hurt to ask a few HR people, maybe at companies you won't be
working at, what type of security
cert they like.
