4000 series switch good for set based switch practice?
|

| I'm looking for a switch to prep for ccnp bscmn exam... anyone think a 4000
series one would fit the bill?

| Wouldn't a Cat 5000 be a cheaper set-based switch these days. They are
cheap as dirt now.

| don't get confused between the cisco 4000 ROUTER and the Cisco 4000 Catalyst
switch..
The catalyst is considerably more expensive

That guy either doesn't know what he has, or he does and is trying to rip
you off. I suspect the former because the picture he is showing clearly
indicates that's a router.

| other than being bulky, ya. They are good because, depending on your budget,
you could add an RSP, NFFC for L3 switching practice etc..
If I may ask, which exam are you tackling that requires the set based
command set knowledge? is it the switching exam?(ccnp)?

3550-based, which also means that from a certification POV, the set-based
stuff is like the dodo.
