need help with 1900 switch

| I purchased a c1924-a switch for study from ebay. It comes with stardard
version IOS and I found I don't have option to access CLI.
I think I might need to upgrade to Enterprise version. I checked with
Cisco.com and realized I couldn't download the IOS there (don't
have priviledge). Anyone can help me with it?? Thanks a ton..

| I downloaded the software. However, i am not sure if it really works because
it's still in downloading status after an hour. there's no way I can track
the process. Does it work for you? Thanks.

| That just means the FTP that you're trying to download the image from is not
currently operational. Keep trying.I've used it for router IOS images and it
eventually works fine.

| Forgive my ignorance, as I might be a bit naive...
I am very interested in this software, however I'm a bit concerned
about its legality.
Is this legal? somehow I doubt it is, but I could be wrong. I'm not
too familiar with Cisco's licensing policy.

Yes there is an enterprise version that you will need to be able to
access the CLI.
Try the person that you purchased the switch from.

For a while, Cisco was giving away free upgrades to enterprise (for
1900, it's not much). Maybe you can call them and ask? Who knows, you
might get a sympathetic tech.
