Hi


At my job we have the following problems:

If we ping 127.0.0.1 on a PC is it then NIC port we ping or is it the
software to the NIC we ping?

In other words is it the hardware we test or show it that the NIC drivers
and TCP/IP are installed correct?

I think wrong on both counts, but close.

It only demonsrtates the TCP/IP stack is installed and running.
You don't have to have a NIC installed to ping 127.0.0.1
