CCIE Security Question.

| How in depth does the security lab go into R&S? Are the skills a CCNP
should know enough for just that part of the exam? We'll assume security
skills are top notch...
Thanks,
Brent

It's been discussed here a few times. I believe the answer was, CCNP level
will *not* cut it.

| You will find about 70% is ccie level R&S
From: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/62...s/security.html
"The Security Lab exam physical rack layout is similar to the Routing &
Switching exam with the exception of a few equipment additions: the pix and
security server. "
Check out the exam blue print:

Most of it is not security.

Actually, I believe the overlap between R/S and Security is no more than
20%, probably more like 10%. There was a lot of overlap when the Security
lab first started out, but it has been revised considerably. There is a
lot of overlap in topics, but not overlap in weighting of those topics - and
believe me, Cisco has set the scoring so that the security part represents
the lion's share of the points.

Well, let's just say that, without violating NDA, I have good reason to be
pretty sure, and we'll just leave it at that. ;-)
Besides, one simple 'sanity check' you can do is to note that only 50 or so
people have ever gotten the Security CCIE so far. If there really is so
much overlap between the R/S and the Security lab, you would think there
would be a lot more Security CCIE's by now, wouldn't you?
