If I lost my IOS image on a Cat5000 and can not replace it with a lower
version. Can I go dirctly to 4.x
The Cisco doc's said I need to follow the upgrade path of 2.4(5) to 3.2(4)
to 4.x. I purchased a cat5000 and the person I purchased it from informed me
of the problem after I paid him for it.
I can I go directly from no IOS to 4.x.
I do not have the lower versions. I only have 4.5.4. Can I use the 4.5.4
version.

The image will load on the Cat but the conversion steps are to convert you
config.

I would expect that loading a 2.x config under 4.x will either fail or have
undesired effects as commands have new defauls or change syntax. It may be
easier just to rebuild your config from scratch using the 4.x commands and
syntax.
