short cut are not working

| I install window xp on my computer, I used for a couple a
weeks. Few short cut like "my computer", "internet
explorer", and "recycle bin" are not responding. I try to
create new short cut with the sample path name for
iexplorer, it is not working either. Anyone know to solve
the problem, please email me and thank you.
