MS to bulk-certify the Chinese?
|
|

| It is disappointing to see Microsoft planning to certify half a million
people in China.
I thaught that certification is something related to the level of knowledge
and skills, so how can MS tell how many people will be able to become
certified? Am I right that Microsoft has signed a contract with Chinese
government in which the number (and so the money) is specified?
http://mcpmag.com/news/article.asp?EditorialsID=577
I don't know why Microsoft is trying to value its certifications even more?
If Chinese people want to become certified, what don't they do what other
people around the world do? Learn, find a training centre and take the test.
What is wrong with this? (apart from MS not getting the same money!)

| although I agree with you, the simple answer is that the companies (MS, Cisco, CompTIA....) don't give a damn about the certifications anymore they only want the money.

No, you misunderstood the article. The article says MS is selling it's
training materials (by opening CTECs) to china and "possibly" make half a
million people in china get certified. It's a hype. What they've said is
that if those half a million people "pass" the required exams, of couse they
will be certified as anybody would be. Otherwise they will just complete the
courses they've attend.
Did they say they are guarranteed to be certified? Of couse not.

Sure they do, Now in addition to their outsourcing to India & Pakistan, they
will have a half-million Chinese to take on jobs.
Heh, funny thing is, they might work cheaper than the Indians.
I can't wait to hear Indian IT guys bitching about their jobs being shipped
to Hong Kong :-D

China is a potentially very large market for MS (piracy issues aside).
What better to fight off the insidious threat of linux than half a million
highly indoctrinated Microsoft Certified Sales Engineers ?

| I don't understand on that way, but i agree with the question
concerning to the Value of certification. In my country, we have very
few MCTs because MS do not audit the CTECs to use an MCT, so the CTECs
uses interns or low-trainded instructors to the the job for half of
the price. I have several friends that do not pay the US$
150,00/200,00 fee, to be an MCT and are teaching in everywhere without
problems. In my country, MCTs have no Value, abosolutely!

| What's wrong with that? What mekes you belive you are the only one who deserves to be certified? ....Ah!, yes, a red neck!

~~Are u a sore loser, or just a loser? After all, It's
only the US that has shown the overwhleming need to
ascertain and establish global domination, both
economically and militarily. Re: Pakistan, Afghanistan,
Iraq, El Salvador et al.
The country needs to make more money. You need more
competent hands, at lesser cost. What do you do? Find a
weak-legged country that falls over to oblige you—Ireland,
Belgium, Israel, India. Anybody will do, as long as the
labor comes cheap. And then...you think you have cause to
complain?
Wake up, Jones. And smell the coffee.

~~ How long ago were you laid off? Seeya in Shanghai.
Maybe you'll learn Chinese someday. At least that way,
you'll retain your job. Have some sauce on me, mate!
