| Hello everyone.
I haven't taught any classes in almost 3 years now and
would like some info, please. How is the market
for "Contract MCTs" these days? Which companies are good
to work for these days.
Thanks a bunch,
Ashar

| Visit the private MCT jobs group. There are postings almost daily for
contract MCTs.

| Has the market improved from say a year or two ago?
Thanks...

| I don't really know if the market outlook has changed, but I know that there
is enough work now.

| Well, I haven't updated my MCT and will need to get
recertified so I can't read the private MCT group. I was
just wondering if it is worth the effort to get certified
again and what companies are good to work for.
TIA

| CTECs and IT Academies for guaranteed income.
If an MCT is willing to travel and accept unstable income - there is an
opportunity to earn much more money.

| In terms of travel, this be for independent or contract MCTs I assume?
CTECs and IT Academies would be as a full-timer?

| what I have found is this, if you are competting with the
house trainers in the skills department then your
prospects are as bad or worse than before, If you have
skills that go beyond the Windows 2000 (mcse / MCSA) or
Upgrade to Win 2003 skill sets then you should be able to
do Ok, but most CTECs have house trainers that cover
those gravy classes so pay for those is down,
High end skills will always be in demand as most people
are lazy.

| Can you clarify what you mean by high-end skills?
I'm currently an MCSD (VS6) and MCDBA; two more exams to upgrade to MCSD for
..NET. I currently work as a consultant doing development work with .NET and
SQL Server and Oracle.
I would like to think that I have more to bring to the table in the skills
and experience area than a full-time in-house trainer not doing real-world
development. I don't have any previous training experience. I do have good
social skills though... :-)

| If you are an MCT logon to the MCT Private website and look for the
Community page, you will find out how to access all the private MCT
newsgroups there.
