Recommended order to take tests?
|
|
|
| I realize that the experience and ability one already possesses determines
how easy each test might be to pass, but all things being equal, what order
is best to take the tests? Also, is there a recommended or required time gap
between each test?

| I would take both tests same day if possible. It may sound crazy but if you
think, many things in design and implementation are related and same applies
to questions.
I took MCSE 2003 70-292 and 70-296 on same afternoon. It helped. I passed
both in less than 4 hours!!!
This applies to only 2 SQL exams though. If you are looking for entire
track, I might have to change my statement... lol.

| Two test's in one day?
I think my brain would go numb!
The numbering of the tests seems to suggest that you should take 70-228
before 70-229. I opted to take the 229 exam first though as I felt more
comfortable with database design than administration. I passed the 229 exam
a couple of weeks ago and am taking the 228 exam next week!
I would study for the exams together though - As the previous poster stated,
there is a cross over of information between the exams.
I read the MS Press certification books (ok I suppose), SQL Server Bible
(much better than any certifcation book! Very Useful!!) and SQL Server 2000
Programming By Example (If you're new to T-SQL, this book is a good place to
start. - Lots of space wasted in the book for "output" though)
I have also put in pleanty of practice and used books online when I got
stuck with something.

| Thanks to both. I've decided to do 70-306 as the elective first, then
probably go with the 229 because design is also more comfortable than admin.
