Does anyone know when Microsoft will retire 70-228? ( or when do you think
they will retire? )

Hmmm..off the top of my head, it would be 2 years or so after the
Yukon admin exam is released, which would be 3 months or so after the
product is released??? Plus Yukon's not due out until the first half
of 2005 so if you add those up...my initial guess would be from 2.5 to
3 years from now.
Any MCPs out there please correct any historical timelines with
post-beta exam releases and retires...or if there is any new news on
Yukon (SQL Server 2005?)

Exam retirements are announced on June 1 and the exams retire a year after
that. If 70-228 is announced to be retired in June then it will be availabe
until June 30, 2005. Otherwise it will be available until at least June 30,
2006.
