I am plannig on taking, SQL Server 7.0 Database
Implementation exam #70-029.

What was the level of difficulty compared to other exams
for the MCDBA? What are your recommendations? Should I use
Transcender along with Microsoft Press?

Since MS is discontinuing the exam in June of 2004, you should be able to find study guides and materials for the 70-028 and 70-029 dirt cheap at CompUSA and Border's Outlet.

That being said, I suggest you use the Sybex books for your preparation (I picked up the $46 guide for about $14), along with the Transcenders. The Sybex materials are excellent, and the practice exams are pretty close to what you should expect on the exam.
