Author Database path for career?

I asked similar questions at one time. Now having done DBA
stuff for a little while I would have to say, do what you
enjoy more. I spent some time learning to program. Once I
started to get OK at it, I realized that I hated it. I
wish I had spent more time in networking. I think the pay
would probably be better for a dba/ programmer than a dba/
networker. But I dont care anymore. I just cant hang not
talking to anyone and being stuck in a cubicle for the
rest of my life. At the places Ive worked the network guys
have much more interection with people and are doing
different stuff pretty regularly. Good luck.

Chris,
thanks for your suggestion, I would like to ask you starting as a networking
work, how can I convert my job from networking to a DBA in later? Which
path/skills should I focus on? Thanks

I took a project manager job from a networking position
and found I really liked inproving efficiency. I worked in
project management and had to write a lot of reports in
Crystal. From talking and working with business customers
I found I could automate things and increase efficiency by
writing SQL Code. I agree with Chris's suggestion in do
what you want to do. I would hate to be in the position of
hating my occupation but doing it for the money. Good luck
to you
