The best raw how-to book (in my opinion) is
SQL Server 2000 Fast Answers for DBAs and Developers
by Joseph Sack. It tells novices like us how to do
everything in layman's terms. Starting from what to
click, to how to finish. Although it is not the best
study for the 70-228, it is a fantastic place to start if
you really want to understand how to do what SQL does. I
finished my 70-228 and 70-229 in June, and I personally
found MCSE SQL Server 2000 Administration Exam Cram
Personal Test Center (Exam: 70-228) by Jada Brock-
Soldavini to be the best study guide. The only failing is
that it is not a MS Press book. I would not normally say
this as MS press books are generally very poorly written,
but as Microsoft chooses to have VUE put out test
questions and scenarios that are not real world, their
books are generally well suited to the tests.
Get a personal copy of SQL, install it on your system,
get familiar with the server product.
Best of luck/skill/knowledge
