| Hey
I want to do MCDBA and just want to start studying for
that , i only have in class knowledge about sql and just
in class projects, please i wil appreciate if any one can
me recomend me a book for 70-228 and 70-229 that i can
start and , also which exam i should take first? there are
exam related books mentioned infront of exam description
on microsoft site , should i buy those. please help

| I took 70-228 already ... haven't done 229 yet. I think that is the usual
order.
Kalen Delaney's Inside SQL Server 2000 is a great book. Sybex & others have
study guides as well.
You definitely want some time playing w/ the software. The eval edition
comes w/ Delaney's book or can be downloaded from MS. Links for the books &

| I would suggest taking the 70-229 first. This is the more difficult of the
two. I passed the 70-229. Took me two attempts. I suggest the 70-229,
because passing the harder test will better prepare you for the 70-228. You
will gain much knowledge studying for the 70-229. Also I have a book
suggestion you may find helpful, it's SQL Server 2000 programming by
Example. This books touches on most parts of SQL server, and you can
actually follow examples to reinforce the material. Note, no one book can
prepare you for such a test. Read as many books as you can, work with the
product and when you run across something you don't know, research it with
Books online. Adn you should do well.That's my two cents worth. Good luck
with you studies.

Sybex books are the best, and, they really get down to the point. They avoid
the technical junk found in the official MS Press books from Microsoft and

Exam 70-228 is musch easier - I would take that first to get your feet wet.
