Hi everyone,

I need help....I am currently starting to study for MCSE exam 70-228
(Installing SQL Server) but do do this I need to setup my Windows 2000
Server machine as a domain Controller in the selfPacedSQL.MSFT domain.
I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 with dualboot ME/2000 advanced server. The
2000 installation is a clean installation with the usual hardware
configuration. I am trying to set up the classroom domain using the
wizard (dcpromo) but when I get to the last step it gives me an error
saying the notwork location cannot be reached. I tried configuring DHCP
and DNS but I am not an expert at this and need some help. I might be
wrong but I have a feeling it will not let me create the Domain as I am
not on a network (work from home, but have a network card installed) and
it cannot correctly configer active directory.......please please help
me as I have tried everything and need to get this domain set up to
continue with the learning,

Thank you,
Ger

Chris...thanks, the reason for the dualboot is that I just installed
2000 AS evaluation version and didnt want to lose my ME OS, it is a
temporary solution I know but I dont think it has a lot to do with that,
you are right, 2000AS is great, one thing tough...it wont let me install
partition magic on it...i hate that,

thanks again,
Ger

I found that for AD to install the server needs to at least think its
networked. ie hook it up to a hub.
Same problem and my solution. Maybe others have a better one.
