| SQL Server Books Online. Even if you are a beginner, this is the definitive
source that you should learn to use. It's free from Microsoft download if
you don't already have SQL Server installed. Don't get fooled into paying
money for other reference books, because they don't add much value. Books
Online has plenty of examples and explanations.

The SQL Server Online Books are included on the SQL Server CD-ROM. If you
buy one of those MS PRESS Self Paced Learning Kits you'll not only get a
valuable book, but also the BOL. theres a trial version of SQL Server
included with the MS PRESS Trainingkit.

| Troy,
The link to downloading SQL Server Books online can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/default.asp
If you haven't already, you should book mark this website
http://www.microsoft.com/sql.
When I was preparing for the 70-228 and 70-229 exams, the Microsoft self
paced training kit was really helpful. Exact title for the developer
version is MCAD/MCSE/MCDBA Self-Paced Training Kit: Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Database Design and Implementation, Exam 70-229, Second Edition. I am
a bit lazy to look up the admin book, but should be something like:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Administration. However, as definitive reference
materials for queries, triggers, stored procedures, your best source is the
SQL Server Online Books.

the eval copy of SQL is good for? Can it be loaded on XP
Home? If not what do I need to buy. I need to practice
