Author Simple but useful question

Hi Professionals,

My guess is that my question may be simple for you but still I 'd
like to ask it. Currently, I am self-tuding for a Admin 70-028 which
is my first test. And I want to setup a little network. I have a
desktop and a laptop with Windows professional at home. Also, I have
a Windows Server setup CD.
Any idea on how I could setup a little network to create some of the
scneiorios from the exam quetsions?
by the way, I am looking to buy inexpensive question list for Admin
70-028 any offer welcome.

Thank you very very much beforehand

Im not too sure I understand your question:
> Any idea on how I could setup a little network to create some of the
> scneiorios from the exam quetsions?

What specifically do you mean by how to set it up?

You probably ought to check out a different newsgroup to get some tips on
setting up a network for you lab. I haven't taken this exam yet but, the
official training kit has labs and instructions on how to set up your
environment to accomplish the labs.

I did not set this up for these exercieses but have used these training kits
in the past and HAVE set up the labs according to the instructions and they
work very well.

Chris, thanks for clearification. My guess is that, in the test their
will be what-if questions that will be similar to the real business
environment (network). Correct me if I am wrong, that is, I don't have
to know practical network scenarios rather reading the book is enough.
And my question is: will I be able to create that real business
environment, at least basic one, at home with two computers with
Windows 2000 porfessionals.

I hope my question is clear enough now.

PS: By the way I urgently need to buy a Admin test question list for
SQL server 2000 (70-028). If you have any please let's discuss the
price. After all you gonna sell just a copy, NOTHING TO LOOSE.

thanks to all,
AL

How did you 'set up the labs' without setting up the network ?

I would get a copy of WIN2K Server for one of those boxes. At least the
trial version that comes with different books or can be obtained through MS.
If not you wont have a very realistic environment. Part of they test is
concerned with WINNT domain security. If you dont have a server, you cant
have a domain. Also, another part of the test is setting up SQL alerts to be
sent though Exchange. I beleive this takes a Server as well. And again you
can obtain a trial version of that. I have this environment set up at home
to learn stuff outside of work and its very realistic. Also, with a server
you can take advantage of Terminal Services. ( only need 1 monitor, mouse,
and keyboard.)
I used the sybex www.sybex.com study guide books and thought they were
pretty good for test passing purposes.
